How I got into the business:  The life events that led me to becoming a graphic designer were a combination of being nurtured as an artist by my mom and dad and a positive memory of two aunts taking me to work on Take Your Daughter to Work Day. I remember pretending I was the boss and creating “reports” out of the cool office supplies.

Accomplishments or milestones: Raising two amazing kids, I ran the Chicago marathon, started and run two companies – Lincoln Craftacular and Pincurl Girls, VP at KidGlov.

First job: My first job was a waitress at Baker’s grocery store.

Biggest career break: When Omaha advertising agency, SKAR, took a chance on me. They hired me two weeks after my undergraduate graduation.

The toughest part of the job: Short deadlines

The best advice I have received: Make even the smallest jobs great.

About my family: My husband started a new video production company, Soluna, five years ago. He is thriving and I am very excited for him. One of his recent jobs took us to Kenya for 10 days. My oldest child, Sofia, is in second grade and loves to write songs and play her ukulele. My son Stefan, 5, is still a huge morning snuggler and I will milk that for as long as it lasts!!

Something else I’d like to accomplish: A solo art show in NYC

Book I finished reading recently: Margret Lukas, The Farthest House. Best fiction book I have ever read.

Something about me not everyone knows: My 5:00am workouts have me going to bed around 8:30 after I put my kids to bed.

How my business will change in the next decade: KidGlov has nearly doubled in size in the past year. It’s exciting to see where our future growth will take us….maybe an office in another city!

Mentor who has helped the most in my career: I would say my co-workers at SKAR. They taught me the ropes, pushed my creativity and they were nice to me at the same time!

Outside interests: Painting, Project Runway, lifting weights at 5:00am, my guinea pigs Buzz and Zeus and gel pens!!

Pet peeves: Big ass trucks that take up 2 parking stalls

Favorite vacation spot: Remote beaches

Other careers I would like to try: Trust Fund Baby, World Famous Artist

Favorite movie: Breakfast at Tiffany’s and Parker Posey’s Party Girl

Favorite cause or charity: Supporting young women at Camp Summergold

Favorite app: My Fitness Pal
