Public Relations Specialist
Jayme Sandberg is an accredited public relations professional and expert storyteller with a significant background in brain health and nonprofit work. Her more than two decades in marketing communications includes nearly 15 years as a trailblazer at the American Heart Association (AHA) at the local and national levels. Following five years as the director of communications for the Nebraska AHA, where she earned the Association’s first year-round cause sponsorship for Go Red for Women and led social media adoption for an 11-state affiliate, Jayme was hired by the National Center to launch its Together to End Stroke initiative and elevate the profile of the American Stroke Association.
In 2018, her success leading science-based, omni-channel campaigns earned her the senior communications role on the Association’s first-of-its-kind collaborative initiative with the American Diabetes Association, Know Diabetes by Heart. In 2020, her team’s groundbreaking work earned the 2020 PRSA Silver Anvil for Integrated Communications.
As the American Heart Association’s national director of marketing communications for consumer health promotions, Jayme directed public relations and integrated marketing communications for six large portfolios of business: Go Red for Women, American Stroke Association, vascular health initiatives, congenital heart disease, Know Diabetes by Heart, and total health and well-being. With her leadership, The Red Dress Collection Fashion Show and Concert earned record-breaking media attention and maximized ROI internally, as well as for volunteers and sponsors.
